The "killing b...I'm sorry, let me clarify. The "killing boars in the forest" is a reference to South Park's WoW episode, where the boys level by hiding in the forest and killing boars @5XP/kill for weeks.

I have no problem with quests that send you to kill 10 monsters. I like them. This is a reference to a blog post I had read but couldn't find (I think from Gordon?) about how in EverQuest(?) leveling was accomplished through straight kill grinds, which then enable you to do quests that gave no XP of themselves. THis was held up as "good" game design, which I am sure was answered by Blizzard in the current scheme of receiving XP for both killing and by completing quests.rowanblazehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06820814610269599162noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4765136501328523372.post-64112305177626983182010-08-17T23:53:44.645-05:002010-08-17T23:53:44.645-05:00Great post, though I have to say sometimes I don&#...Great post, though I have to say sometimes I don't understand why all the hate to the kill-a-bunch-of-boars-in-the-forest type quest. I mean, I agree that it would suck if it was all like that, but I certainly don't mind a few of them sprinkled here and there. The kill-ten-rats kind of quest has become a staple in MMOs, I certainly don't mind the extra XP it's become almost cathartic for me when I do them sometimes...lol.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4765136501328523372.post-39397133011476500402010-08-17T23:05:23.285-05:002010-08-17T23:05:23.285-05:00Fantastic post, man. I'm all about a challenge, but I'm playing the game for enjoyment - I don't want to be heavily punished for mistakes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
