Day 9 - In Which I Essentially Link Back to My First Post

Perhaps like many such posts, my first one for this blog was not exactly the most auspicious beginning. I have written far longer and higher quality stuff (though not necessarily at the same time). But there it is:

OK Here We Go

As I said in that post, I had hoped to include more fiction on the blog, but my bouts of inspiration are fewer and further between these days than in the past. I guess I should work harder at that. But more often lately, I find myself incensed at some hot topic of the day, and I am inspired to rant about it rather than write (hopefully) exciting stories.

  1. I had an ongoing series of stories about my WoW characters ages ago. In retrospect I think it was mainly an exercise that helped me fill out their personalities, since the game itself didn't have much support for role playing in place. It's been a couple of years now since I've written any fiction, I keep meaning to get back into it.

    1. I don't know if other games have much in-game support, but I love the RP backstory interface provided in STO for each Captain and Bridge Officer. Now if only the ships did. (Maybe they do; it's been a while since I played seriously.)

    2. You just put your finger on something that's bothered me for awhile. The red line of RP narrative for STO really should be wrapped around the ships rather than the people. After all, isn't that why the series are named what they are? ST:TNG was not the continuing adventures of Capt. Picard and his hearty crew after all...

    3. Meh, even though the show titles were generally about the ships (or main locale for DS9), I think the shows were much more about the crews. The ships were "characters" but not the "stars."
