No More Anonymous Commenting For You!

I tried allowing anonymous commenting and was flooded with spam, with no legitimate anonymous comments. So now I'm back to requiring at least an OpenID login. I'm sorry if this causes any inconvenience, but dealing with spam has been an inconvenience to me with no benefit.

  1. I have struggled with the commenting thing myself. I still see a large volume of spam comments on a regular basis. I decided to go with the "verify once" and then auto post from that point on scheme within wordpress. It seems to work pretty well but I always feel bad when a comment gets hung up for a bit before I verify it is not spam.

    1. Yeah, I wish Blogger had something like that verify-once of WP. Google is pushing for G+ integration of Blogger comments. But I would lose tracking of previous, non-G+ comments. (They would still be visible on the blog, just not my own tracking dashboard.)
