Blaugust the Ninth: A Double Feature

Today, I went and saw not just one, but two, movies in the theater!

The first was Ant-Man. I know, it's been a little while since it opened. But I hadn't gotten a chance to see it yet. I'm so glad I did. Marvel Studios seems to be in that golden era that they can do no wrong, much like Pixar for the first decade or so. Anyway, no spoilers here, but the dude gets really small and leads an army of ants to save the day. Paul Rudd is great is Scott Lang/Ant-Man. A highlight is Michael Peña as Lang's ex-con buddy, Luis. There is plenty of humor, but also plenty of heart; because saving the world is almost as important as saving the ones you hold most dear.

Later in the afternoon, Scooter and I headed off down Holiday Road with Rusty Griswold and his lovely family. If you're a fan of the original, this one will not disappoint. Scooter was in stitches for most of the movie. There were just enough callbacks to the original to spark a bit of nostalgia without being a complete retread of Chevy Chase's jinxed journey with wife and kids in tow. The thread tying both movies together is Michael Peña in a small but significant role, creating a (New) Mexican standoff.

If you're interested in joining the madness (Vloggers are welcome, too!), Belghast has a set of rules for qualifying for any prizes at the end. Your second stop should be the Blaugust Nook, where Bel is keeping track of everything and community members are sharing encouragement and ideas.
