Much Ado About Nothing

Apparently, the announcement of a new player "Advisory Council" for STO raised quite a stir on the Cryptic forums this weekend. A bunch of people were crying about something they don't even have all the details on. This event actually illustrates why Cryptic needs a buffer between them and the fanbois. Trekkies are already an excitable bunch; and combined with the nerd-rage-infected MMORPG forum community, Cryptic has a volatile mix. Imagine if, say, Congress tried that with pending legislation. <cough>Townhalls<cough>. Nothing would get done without somebody bitching about it. . . oh wait.

The problem with giving people a voice is that they then think they have a say.

We just don't seem to have enough DPS for the second wing of ICC25. Not that my healing is outstanding; but as a disc priest, I'm throwing out a lot of mitigation buffs. I though I had gotten a screenshot of the last fight or at least Rotface. But the last shot I took was the giant tree in the middle of Lady Deathwhisper's battle. Anyway, you can see my UI if that interests you.

STO Fleet: Federation News Service

I don't know who reads this who is not already aware, but a new STO Fleet was formed on Wednesday: "Federation News Service, " consisting of STO/gaming bloggers, twitterers, and such. I was invite to join in short order, and jumped at the chance. Maybe we are a collective self-licking ice cream cone, but I am looking forward to playing with these wonderful people. Thanks for inviting me, guys.

I would like to take this chance to thank @leolook for inviting me to my prior fleet, Federation 1st Fleet. I had a good time with you guys, too. It's a shame I can't be part of two fleets.

I Need a New Chair

I am sorry to admit this, but my desk chair has broken for the second time (really the "repair" I did broke). So I am off to get a another. Not something I wanted to spend money on right now. =\

The Newest Crewmember of the U.S.S. Wayfarer

Avishrel ch'Rothress:

Tarah's ch'te, Shrel, is one of the new generation of Andorians born using fertility techniques from the Gamma Quadrant. As such, he is a rare Andorian with a fraternal twin, Vilithar sh'Rothress. Shrel and Thar are close, corresponding often. Born in 2378, he was bonded with Dilat th'Evram, Zharran sh'Endilev, and Shintarah zh'Rithsiria in 2398, the year he entered Starfleet Academy. Dil and Zhar reside on Andoria, not having enlisted in Starfleet. Shrel graduated from Starfleet Academy in 2402 with degrees in Structural Engineering and Systems Integration. His first assignment was at Starfleet's Harbortown Shipyard orbiting Andor. After consultation with Dil and Zhar, he accepted Rowan's invitation to join Tarah and the crew of Wayfarer. Tarah was delighted at his arrival, and was glad that they had the approbation of their other two bondmates. Shrel is a skilled engineer, and possesses an even-tempered humor that is a complement and contrast to Tarah's occasionally intense personality. His easygoing charm endeared him to the crew immediately.

I got Shrel a week or two ago, but have been so busy I wasn't able to come up with a good background or even picture, until today. I hadn't originally intended to name his other bondmates or his shi, they just kind of happened (with some minor research). Maybe they'll come in handy later.
